About Tyson Halford

Tyson Halford, guitarist, musician, producer.

Tyson Halford is an American guitarist, singer-songwriter, recording artist, producer, and performer based in the Atlanta area. With roots in Western North Carolina, his musical foundation draws from the rich traditions of Appalachian culture, blues, southern rock, folk, country, and bluegrass.

Tyson began his musical journey early, starting piano lessons at age eight, playing saxophone in school bands, and teaching himself guitar by age twelve. By his mid-teens, he was leading a youth group band, performing at local open mics, and honing his skills in Western North Carolina venues. While attending Western Carolina University, he balanced academics with paid solo and band gigs, building the confidence to pursue music professionally.

After graduating with a bachelor of science he relocated to the Atlanta region to dedicate himself full-time to music—a path he has followed for over a decade. In those early years, he toured regionally with southern rock band Southside of the Tracks, playing festivals, venues, and SEC schools.  He quickly built a reputation as one of the hardest working musicians in the industry, maintaining a rigorous schedule of 250–300 annual performances across the Southeast. His versatility as a guitarist, bassist, and keyboardist has made him a sought-after freelance musician for weddings, corporate events, private parties, and more, including high-profile appearances for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia House and Senate.

Tyson signed with Emanant Music Group and released his debut EP, Orchard Town, working with Nashville producer Chas Childers on recordings that blend his influences into original songwriting. His catalog includes singles such as, “Take it From Me” (2020) and “My Last Damn Run” (2021), available on major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

In 2020, he founded Skyscraper Music LLC, an independent record label and production company offering remote session guitar work, song development, custom compositions, mixing, mastering, and artist support. Following the launch of Skyscraper Music, Tyson released his first independent single “I’d Choose You”. This venture has allowed him to collaborate with songwriters and creators nationwide while maintaining a home-based studio.

Since 2022, Tyson has been a core member of the internationally touring Highwaymen Show Tribute, celebrating the music of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. Portraying Willie Nelson, he delivers authentic, high-energy performances of outlaw country classics to audiences all around.

Tyson’s career reflects a steady commitment to growth, adaptability, and genuine connection with audiences and fellow musicians. Featured in publications such as Shoutout Atlanta, Voyage ATL, Canvas Rebel, Bold Journey, and Roswell Magazine, as well as Neighborhood TV Atlanta’s Music in the Metro, he continues to write, record, produce, and perform, driven by a lifelong passion for music and the stories it tells.
