Tyson Halford is an American guitarist, musician, recording artist, singer songwriter and producer. Tyson has been featured in Shout-Out Atlanta Magazine, Neighborhood TV Atlanta, Voyage ATL Magazine, Canvas Rebel Magazine, Bold Journey Magazine, Roswell Magazine, and Roswell City Lifestyle Magazine. Born and raised in Western North Carolina, his sound and style was sculpted by the rugged landscapes that span the Great Smoky Mountains and the rich Appalachian culture within the region, where he was influenced by the blues, southern rock, folk, country, and bluegrass. His passion for music began at the early age of 8, where classical piano training laid the foundation for future music endeavors. Tyson played alto and baritone saxophone throughout middle and high school years, and along the way became self taught on guitar by age 12. Shortly after, he went on to lead his first band during youth group service at the church he grew up in. By age 16, Tyson began honing his playing and singing skills while frequenting open mic night at a local establishment in his hometown of Flat Rock, NC formerly known as The Back Room. While attending Western Carolina University, Tyson began playing his first paid gigs around town as a solo artist and with multiple bands. After graduating from WCU, he moved to Atlanta, GA to pursue a career in music. Along the way he toured with popular Atlanta southern rock band Southside of the Tracks, playing at festivals, music venues, and SEC schools and universities across the region while also playing solo gigs locally and regionally. Tyson quickly built a reputation as one of the hardest working musicians in the business, playing 250-300 gigs a year in the Atlanta area and throughout the southeast. He was later signed by Emanant Music, releasing his first EP “Orchard Town”. In 2020 he launched Skyscraper Music LLC where he began producing his songs independently, helping other artists develop their songs, and doing session guitar work on records for artists and producers. Tyson joined up with nationally touring tribute band “Highwaymen Show” in 2022, a tribute to the music of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson, where he plays the role of Willie Nelson.
Tyson talks to Neighborhood TV for their Music in the Metro series.
